Football Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. Kearns Cougars

Hunter hasn't had much luck against Kearns recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Hunter came into their game last Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 31-7 to West Jordan. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Wolverines couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hunter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Andru Gomez and Dallas Haskan.

Meanwhile, Kearns played a tough game last Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 56-7 defeat at the hands of Granger. The Cougars have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Karim Bustos, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Hunter's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Kearns, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Hunter against Kearns in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 30-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
