Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They were the clear victor by an 83-61 margin over the Hempstead Mustangs on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lightning as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Liberty was led to victory by Brady Randall and Jerimiah Washpun. Randall went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds, while Washpun went 12 of 23 on his way to 31 points. Randall is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddoc Coapstick, who posted ten points along with six assists and five boards.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Liberty's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Hempstead, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Liberty will head out to face off against Linn-Mar at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hempstead, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Washington at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
