Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Miege Stags vs. Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints

After both having extra time off, the Bishop Miege Stags and the Saint Thomas Aquinas Saints will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Miege will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Last Saturday, Bishop Miege took their game with ease, bagging a 68-16 win over McPherson.

Bishop Miege can attribute much of their success to Mary Grant, who went 10 for 13 on her way to 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals, and Jayla McClinton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. That's the most points Grant has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirston Verhulst, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Saint Thomas Aquinas was able to grind out a solid victory over St. James Academy last Friday, taking the game 60-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Saints.

Bishop Miege pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.4 points. As for Saint Thomas Aquinas, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Bishop Miege and Saint Thomas Aquinas were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February, but Bishop Miege came up empty-handed after a 58-57 defeat. Can Bishop Miege avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
