Basketball Game Preview: Discovery Titans vs. Apalachee Wildcats

The Discovery Titans will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Apalachee Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Discovery has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three games.

Last Saturday, Discovery got the win against Wesleyan by a conclusive 59-35. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Wolves are ranked 460th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Apalachee was able to grind out a solid win over East Jackson on Tuesday, taking the game 71-58.

Apalachee has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Discovery, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Discovery strolled past Apalachee in their previous meeting back in November by a score of 57-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Discovery since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
