Basketball Recap: Great Mills Hornets vs. Patuxent Panthers
The Great Mills Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 84-42 win over Patuxent at home. The win was nothing new for Great Mills as they're now sitting on six straight.
Jermaine Davis was nothing short of spectacular: he went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 8 assists. It was the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Cameron Brooks, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Great Mills' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Patuxent, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Great Mills will head out on the road to square off against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Hornets are ranked 50th). As for Patuxent, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. La Plata has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 10.
