With a playoff game on the line, Clay rose to the challenge on Monday. They beat the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-3. The win was familiar territory for Clay who now have three in a row.
Mckinsey Bardroff made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Bardroff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Bardroff was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Clay got a massive performance out of Hailie Miera, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Kaitlyn Howell was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Clay's victory bumped their record up to 10-16. As for St. Augustine, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22.
Clay didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-4 win vs. Ponte Vedra on the 30th. St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
