Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for West Valley Christian

West Valley Christian had won two straight games and Finn Van Ness did his part to make it three on Friday. The Warriors walked away with a 60-50 win over the Academy with Community Partners Lions for which the team can thank Van Ness, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 23 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of West Valley Christian's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Gerald Minott, who dropped a double-double with 13 rebounds and ten assists. Minott is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

West Valley Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Academy with Community Partners, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

West Valley Christian and Academy with Community Partners will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Warriors see the court they'll take on Flagstaff Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026. As for Academy with Community Partners, their break will end when they face Imagine Prep Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
