Recap: Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles vs. Page Sand Devils

It was a good run, but the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Page, falling 70-38. While losing is never fun, Bourgade Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Page is ranked 16th).

Bourgade Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Juliet Botiller, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 68.4% of Bourgade Catholic's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Arismendez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Bourgade Catholic struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Page racked up 21 assists.

Alyssa Harris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Page, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Sofia Cambridge was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Bourgade Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Page, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bourgade Catholic will challenge Northwest Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Northwest Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. Page will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Chinle at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th.
