Basketball Recap: Leon Finds Playoff Glory Versus Columbia

It's playoff time, and Leon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over the Columbia Tigers on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Lions who have now won three matchups in a row.

Leon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Pensel, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Pensel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 14 times he's played. Noah Eckhart was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Leon is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Columbia, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-10.

Leon will challenge Gainesville on Friday. One thing working in Leon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. Columbia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
