Baseball Recap: Henryville Takes a Loss

Henryville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They came up short against the Borden Braves, falling 12-0. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Henryville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Winters, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Borden, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Considering they have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Borden's side, the result came thanks to Jayden Gardner's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks. Gardner has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Garrett Schmidt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Zander Keith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henryville will head out to take on South Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Borden, they will venture away from home to challenge Scottsburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
