Softball Recap: Hanover Central Triumphs

Hanover Central hadn't done well against Munster recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Mustangs two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Jillian DeYoung was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

DeYoung wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sienna Stilley, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Hanover Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Munster, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Hanover Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 victory against Hobart on the 6th. As for Munster, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-4 loss against Lowell on the 5th.
