John Marshall kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 13-5 walloping at the hands of the Lutheran West Longhorns. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for John Marshall in their matchups with Lutheran West: they've now lost three in a row.

For Lutheran West's part, Brendan Middendorf looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
