Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. John Paul II Academy walked away with it. They walked away with a 62-52 victory over the Benjamin Buccaneers on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won six contests in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John Paul II Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Durham, who went 8-for-12 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Durham a new career-high in points. Sam Kaufman was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 11 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Benjamin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Griffon Alterman posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Cameron, who had nine points.

St. John Paul II Academy's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Benjamin, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

St. John Paul II Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-50 loss against John Carroll Catholic on the 12th. As for Benjamin, they have also already played their next game, a 57-51 win against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on the 12th.
