Softball Game Preview: Purchase Line Red Dragons vs. River Valley Panthers

Purchase Line hasn't had much luck against River Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Red Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Purchase Line 4, River Valley 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Tuesday, Purchase Line didn't have quite enough to beat Homer-Center and fell 5-4. The Red Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alorra Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, River Valley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Northern Cambria by a score of 9-4.

River Valley pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Purchase Line, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Purchase Line suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to River Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Red Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
