Recap: Lago Vista Vikings vs. Jarrell Cougars
The Lago Vista Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Jarrell on the road by a decisive 51-35 margin. Lago Vista has struggled against Jarrell recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Lago Vista's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Saylor Stamos, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Eliana Helton who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Jarrell found their leader in underclassman Aniya Taylor, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 19 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Benavidez, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Lago Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Jarrell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lago Vista will challenge Marble Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jarrell, they will head out on the road to face off against Burnet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burnet will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
