Preview: Wayne Hills Patriots vs. Wayne Valley Indians
Wayne Hills is 2-8 against Wayne Valley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wayne Hills Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Wayne Valley Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Wayne Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland Regional, taking the game 56-43. Given Wayne Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Lakeland Regional is ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wayne Valley waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 50-30 margin over Piscataway. Wayne Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Anthony Apicella, who scored 23 points along with three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Hudson Devine was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight assists.
Wayne Hills' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Wayne Valley, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.
Wayne Hills came up short against Wayne Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 38-34. Can Wayne Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
