Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lawrence Academy Warriors, falling 63-36. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 46-42.

When it comes to explaining why Halifax Academy lost, don't look at Carolina Corum. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Corum a new career-high in blocks (four).

Lawrence Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaslene Etheridge, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Etheridge's third in a row with at least ten points. Claire Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards.

Halifax Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Lawrence Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Halifax Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fayetteville Academy at 5:00 p.m. As for Lawrence Academy, they will face off against Ridgecroft at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
