Baseball Recap: Weaver Triumphs

Weaver won the last time they faced Ragland and things went their way on Monday too. The Bearcats walked away with a 5-2 win over the Purple Devils.

Landon Free and Tucker Michaels made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Free pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Michaels struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Weaver is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. At bat, Free got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Michaels went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Hyatt, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Tracen Jones, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Weaver now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Ragland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Coming up, Weaver will take on Oakman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ragland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
