Baseball Recap: Attica Comes Up Short

Attica had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-12-1 to make it four. They fell just short of the South Vermillion Wildcats by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 on Monday.

Dane Goris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayce Larson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

As for South Vermillion, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On South Vermillion's side, the team relied heavily on Bryson Lemmons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Lemmons has become a key player for the Wildcats: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Mason Larson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Attica wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Cissna Park on the 15th. As for South Vermillion, they have also already played their next game, an 8-4 defeat against Riverton Parke on the 14th.
