Baseball Recap: Goliad Sets Scoring Season-High Against Stockdale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Goliad). They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Stockdale Brahmas on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Goliad got a massive performance out of Kayden Caka, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Caka a new career-high in hits (three). Barrett Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Goliad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Goliad picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 9-7. As for Stockdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season.

Goliad didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 defeat against Sinton on the 29th. As for Stockdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Karnes City on the 1st.
