Recap: Highland Huskies vs. Loveland Red Wolves
The Highland Huskies won the last time they faced the Loveland Red Wolves, and things went their way on Thursday too. Highland narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Loveland 51-48.
Briza Flores was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 20 points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Mary Jones, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Loveland saw an underclassman step up: Courtlyn Yaussi scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals. Autumn Rinehart was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
The victory got Highland back to even at 1-1. As for Loveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Highland will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Frederick at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th. Frederick presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Highland in Colorado (Frederick is ranked 25th, while Highland is ranked 146th). Loveland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Steamboat Springs. Steamboat Springs is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
