Basketball Recap: Orange Comes Up Short

Orange lost against Hawken back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Orange Lions took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawken Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Hawks are ranked 140th).

When it comes to explaining why Orange lost, don't look at Alex Mcculloch. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 15 en route to 27 points and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Mcculloch now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Luke Schmotzer, who posted five points.

Orange has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Hawken, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange and Twinsburg will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Hawken, they will welcome Villa Angela-St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
