Softball Recap: Chagrin Falls Comes Up Short

Chagrin Falls managed to slip by Hawken the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers lost 16-8 to the Hawks on Tuesday. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Chagrin Falls got a big performance out of Gina Ponikvar, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases were Ponikvar's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brigitte Edwards, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Chagrin Falls and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Hawken, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chagrin Falls will head out to face off against Beachwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Hawken, they are taking a road trip to square off against John Hay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
