Basketball Game Preview: Munster Mustangs vs. Gary West Side Cougars

The Munster Mustangs will face off against the Gary West Side Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Munster strolled past Calumet New Tech with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Warriors are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Gary West Side entered their tilt with Hanover Central on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They walked away with a 64-51 win over the Wildcats.

Gary West Side's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21.9 points. As for Munster, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Munster was able to grind out a solid win over Gary West Side in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 62-53. Will Munster repeat their success, or does Gary West Side have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
