Baseball Game Preview: North Panola Cougars vs. Delta Academy Raiders

The North Panola Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Delta Academy Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Delta Academy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on North Panola, who comes in off a win.

While North Panola's victory against Coahoma County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Red Panthers 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 18, 2024.

North Panola got a massive performance out of Isaiah Callicut, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave Callicut a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Bolton, who scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Delta Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Water Valley, falling 8-0.

North Panola is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 0.5 runs across that stretch. As for Delta Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
