Volleyball Recap: Fountain Central Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Fountain Central had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Clinton Prairie Gophers on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Gophers: they've now lost three in a row.

While Fountain Central was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Clinton Prairie's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-21, 26-24.

Among those leading the charge was Cambell Carter, who had 16 digs and two assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Brettnacher, who had five aces.

Coincidentally, Fountain Central and Clinton Prairie will both be playing Western the next time they take the court. The Gophers will host the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
