Basketball Recap: Whiteville Piles Up the Points Against West Columbus

There's no place like home for Whiteville, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They claimed a resounding 62-19 win over the West Columbus Vikings. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-7.

Despite the defeat, West Columbus had strong showings from Iyana Lowery, who posted seven points and three blocks, and Kimel Lennon, who earned no points. Lowery has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Whiteville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for West Columbus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Whiteville will head out to square off against East Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Columbus, they will host South Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
