Softball Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Greenfield-Central Cougars

The Floyd Central Highlanders will challenge the Greenfield-Central Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Floyd Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 16 games.

Floyd Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Castle.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenfield-Central). They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over Lawrence North on Tuesday. The Cougars are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.

Leilani Forshey was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Savvanna Riall, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Greenfield-Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.

Floyd Central's record now sits at 26-4. As for Greenfield-Central, their record is now 19-7.
