Basketball Recap: Baldwin Bulldogs vs. Osawatomie Trojans
Make it five blowout wins for the Baldwin Bulldogs this season. They blew past Osawatomie, posting a 70-39 victory on the road. While fans of Baldwin might be used to big wins, the 31-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Baldwin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Talan Torrez out in front who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Carr, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.
Despite the loss, Osawatomie saw an underclassman step up: Jaxon Stevenson scored 11 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasper Sallee, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Baldwin's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Osawatomie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baldwin will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paola will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 50th). As for Osawatomie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wellsville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 276 points over their last four matches.
