Softball Recap: Glencliff Comes Up Short

Glencliff extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-8-1. They lost 17-0 to the Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 two weeks ago.

As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, they pushed their record up to 10-10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's part, Sophia Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martin was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet got a massive performance out of Karina Duronslet, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those seven stolen bases gave Duronslet a new career-high. Marlee Martin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI.

Glencliff does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, they will take on Pearl-Cohn at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Firebirds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.5 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
