Mt. Olive scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Gillespie Miners 75-69. The Wildcats have struggled against the Miners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Mt. Olive's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Grejtak, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Grejtak a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was David Schoen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mt. Olive was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mt. Olive's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Gillespie, they moved to 3-14 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Olive has already played their next matchup (against Tri-City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gillespie will take on East Alton-Wood River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
