Baseball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Wins Going Away Against Harbor Teacher

Port of Los Angeles won against Verbum Dei Jesuit last Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Polar Bears were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Harbor Teacher Monarchs. The result was nothing new for the Polar Bears, who have now won three games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Jonathan Rosette was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Port of Los Angeles is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Rosette was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Port of Los Angeles let Anthony Garcia and Ethan Vasquez run wild. Garcia scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Vasquez went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Vasquez has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Ochoa, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Port of Los Angeles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Port of Los Angeles is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Harbor Teacher, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Port of Los Angeles wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-0 defeat against Fremont on the 27th. As for Harbor Teacher, they have also already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Dorsey on the 27th.
