Hilmar won the last time they faced Atwater, and things went their way on Friday too. The Hilmar Yellowjackets won a match that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Atwater Falcons 24-23. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by just one point.

Hilmar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Bailey out in front who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Bailey's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season. John Labno also helped out with an impressive 151 receiving yards.

Hilmar wouldn't let Atwater keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Hilmar can thank Kiel Coder and Colton Johnston for forcing both of them.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ali Banks Jr, who threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes. Jeremiah Delarosa helped Banks Jr out on the ground, picking up 57 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Hilmar and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Atwater, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 3-1 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilmar will face off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Atwater, they will challenge Pitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atwater is facing Pitman at the right time seeing as Pitman is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
