Volleyball Recap: North Decatur Starts Season with Defeat at Home

North Decatur unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Eastern Hancock Royals by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

North Decatur wouldn't go down easily and took Eastern Hancock into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 25-27, 17-25, 15-12.

Miley Scudder paced North Decatur's offense, picking up 19 kills. Scudder got some help from Maggie Burkhart and her 37 assists. Scudder was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Eastern Hancock's victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

North Decatur has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Lawrenceburg on the 21st. As for Eastern Hancock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Randolph Southern on the 19th.
