Basketball Recap: South Lake Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the South Lake Eagles lost to the Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs at home by a 44-25 margin.

When it comes to explaining why South Lake lost, don't look at Ella Cochran. Despite the final result, she posted nine points. Jazmyn Robles was another key player, putting up six points.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Natalie Doan led the charge by posting eight points along with six assists and four steals. Doan has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sania Smith, who had eight points and four steals.

South Lake's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

South Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-31 win against Windermere on the 13th. Mount Dora Christian Academy and Boone will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
