Basketball Recap: Jalexia Young's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rivercrest over Marked Tree

Rivercrest lost against Marked Tree back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rivercrest Colts lost to the Marked Tree Indians on the road by a 59-44 margin. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rivercrest's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalexia Young, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 18 points. Destiny Burks was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Even though they lost, Rivercrest was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Rivercrest's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Marked Tree, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Rivercrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 84-40 win against Bay on the 4th. As for Marked Tree, they will welcome Armorel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
