Football Recap: Dixie Flyers vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs

Dixie lost against Crimson Cliffs back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Dixie Flyers were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs.

Despite the loss, Dixie still got an impressive performance from Ran Sawyer, who rushed for 258 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry.

Dixie wouldn't let Crimson Cliffs keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Dixie can thank Aisa Lopati and Bristol Woods for forcing both of them. Lopati also set a new season high mark in total tackles with nine. Kolo Lynn was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Even though they lost, Dixie was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 336 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crimson Cliffs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malakai Alofipo, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Alofipo's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 110 receiving yards. Crimson Cliffs also got a significant boost from Mccord Christiansen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 172 yards.

Dixie's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Crimson Cliffs, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

As of now, neither Dixie nor Crimson Cliffs have any future games scheduled.
