Football Preview: Jeannette Jayhawks vs. Neshannock Lancers
Two dominant signal callers in Kymon'E Brown and Jino Mozzocio are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Jeannette Jayhawks will head out on the road to square off against the Neshannock Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jeannette comes in on three and Neshannock on seven.
Last Saturday, Jeannette didn't have too much trouble with Riverview as they won 34-20.
It was another big night for Brown, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Noah Sunder was another key player, picking up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Jeannette was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, Neshannock and Laurel met for a duel on Friday where Neshannock prevailed. Neshannock was the clear victor by a 27-7 margin over Laurel. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.
Neshannock relied on the efforts of Anthony Eakin, who gained 164 total yards and two touchdowns, and Mozzocio, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Mozzocio also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending four passes.
Jeannette's record is now 7-3. As for Neshannock, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the on the ground. Jeannette has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 167.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Neshannock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 203.8. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
