Softball Recap: Belleville West Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Belleville West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Murphysboro Red Devils by a score of 7-4 on Friday. This was payback for the Maroons, who suffered a 10-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kara Kramer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Caleigh Dashner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

The victory got Belleville West back to even at 11-11. As for Murphysboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.

Belleville West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Mt. Vernon on the 10th. As for Murphysboro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-1 defeat against Calhoun on the 10th.
