Softball Recap: Arlington Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Arlington owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hillcrest Trojans by a score of 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Hillcrest's batters probably weren't too happy with Itzel Hernandez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arlington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Delany Perez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Arlington pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Hillcrest, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Arlington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-3 victory against JW North on the 29th. As for Hillcrest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-14 win against Tahquitz on the 25th.
