Basketball Game Preview: Collins-Maxwell vs. Baxter

Collins-Maxwell hasn't had much luck against Baxter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Collins-Maxwell will square off against Baxter at 7:45 p.m. Collins-Maxwell will be strutting in after a victory while Baxter will be coming in after a loss.

Last Friday, Collins-Maxwell earned a 70-60 win over GMG. Given Collins-Maxwell's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while GMG is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Baxter was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 62-61 to West Marshall.

Collins-Maxwell's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Baxter, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Collins-Maxwell strolled past Baxter when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 71-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Collins-Maxwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
