Basketball Recap: Ashton Wheeler Key Part of Team Effort in Broncos Win

Wauneta-Palisade got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They snuck past the Creek Valley Storm with a 38-34 win on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Broncos: when they faced off against the Storm back in December of 2024, they had to take a 57-43 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wauneta-Palisade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ashton Wheeler, who to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Wheeler has posted since back in December of 2024. Aden Acton was another key player, putting up seven points and 18 rebounds.

Wauneta-Palisade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Wauneta-Palisade is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-17 record this season. Creek Valley is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
