Baseball Game Preview: Van Nuys Wolves vs. Arleta Mustangs

For the second straight game, Van Nuys will face off against Arleta. The Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Van Nuys will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Van Nuys took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Arleta, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday.

The result came thanks to Joel Enciso's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alejandro Diaz and Enzo Enciso did most of the damage at the plate: Diaz went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Enzo went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases. That's the most hits Diaz has posted since back in May of 2024.

Van Nuys pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arleta, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
