Basketball Recap: Meridian Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

A well-balanced attack led Meridian over Millbrook in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. The Meridian Mustangs enjoyed a cozy 60-41 win over the Millbrook Pioneers. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.

Meridian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nora Stufft led the charge by going 7 of 8 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Stufft also posted a 88% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023. Ellie Friesen was another key player, putting up 19 points and six boards.

Meridian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Millbrook still got an impressive performance from Jane Moreland, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Moreland is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliah Jackson, who posted ten points.

Meridian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points over those games. As for Millbrook, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-7.

Meridian has already played their next contest, a 66-15 win against Manassas Park on the 4th. As for Millbrook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-49 defeat against Skyline on the 4th.
