Basketball Recap: Sneads Pirates vs. Paxton Bobcats
Sneads was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Paxton Bobcats. The Pirates were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
Despite the loss, Sneads still got an impressive performance from John Loftus, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five steals. Loftus is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aaron Williams, who posted six points and 13 boards.
Leading Paxton to victory were Garrett Lowry and Cade Stewart. Lowry dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Stewart scored 14 points and seven boards. Wade Borgesen was another key player, putting up eight points.
Sneads' loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Paxton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sneads will welcome Ponce De Leon at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Ponce De Leon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Paxton, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Paxton Bobcats challenge the Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
