Baseball Recap: Simon Kenton Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

Simon Kenton hadn't done well against Ryle recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 9-2 win. The game was the first time the Pioneers have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 15, 2019.

Tyler Ruete made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jag Ruebel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Brett Bockmon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Simon Kenton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Simon Kenton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Ryle, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Simon Kenton will host Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ryle, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Conner at 5:00 p.m.
