Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haddam-Killingworth). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 60-21 win over the Portland Highlanders. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.

Despite the defeat, Portland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kelsey Desmarais posted nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Haddam-Killingworth and bumps their season record up to 3-2. As for Portland, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Haddam-Killingworth Cougars duke it out with the Old Lyme Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Portland, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Valley Regional at 5:30 p.m. Portland is facing Valley Regional at the right time seeing as Valley Regional is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
