Football Game Preview: St. Augustine Saints vs. Point Loma Pointers + How To Watch

The St. Augustine Saints will head out on the road to take on the Point Loma Pointers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, St. Augustine didn't have too much breathing room in their game against La Jolla, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Saints.

Paisios Polamalu produced another solid effort rushing for 316 yards and three scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also catching one touchdown. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 121.4 rushing yards per game. Cooper Hamric made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Augustine was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Augustine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Micheal Ruiz and Hamric. Hamric got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Point Loma owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over Christian. The victory continues a trend for the Pointers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won four in a row.

St. Augustine's record is now 4-5. As for Point Loma, their record now sits at 9-0.

Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. St. Augustine has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Point Loma, though, as they've been averaging only 78.1 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

St. Augustine came up short against Point Loma in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 21-16. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
