Softball Game Recap: Enfield Eagles vs. E.O. Smith/Tolland Bucks

Thursday just wasn't the day for Enfield's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-0 to the E.O. Smith/Tolland Bucks, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Payten Stebbins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Enfield's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 9-3. As for E.O. Smith/Tolland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Looking ahead, Enfield will take on Glastonbury at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for E.O. Smith/Tolland, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Coventry/Windham RVT/Bolton/Lyman Memorial at 11:00 a.m.
