John Paul the Great Academy faced Acadiana Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Guardians simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 46-0. Give the Guardians' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

John Paul the Great Academy was led to victory by Daniel Charpentier and Riley Lormand. Charpentier rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while Lormand rushed for 77 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards Charpentier has posted since back in August of 2024.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something John Paul the Great Academy proved: they limited Acadiana Christian to a paltry 0.2 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Lormand stood above the rest. He rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores. John Paul the Great Academy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.

John Paul the Great Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lormand and Jacob Angelle. Lormand is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

John Paul the Great Academy's record now sits at 9-0. As for Acadiana Christian, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
